Weather Balloon Variations

So, While having one the the worst weeks of this year, it ended up in a whirlwind of inspiration and good, good news. I haven't really been to the gym recently so I focused all my calories into making these bad girls. So I entitled these two drawings "Weather Balloon." And although a friend politely reminded me that rain was not included in this, I will take some time to add it later. I guess I was just so excited to finally have a drawing streak again. I am thinking this may be the design to print onto a T-shirt... now if only I could find a way to make it work on threadless....

Something it's been awhile

When you have a bad day, a bad week, a bad month... never fear... there are always ways to relieve stress. Mine just happens to be Sailor Moon inspired drawings.

Drawing Challenge

Hey,
So because I have been feeling so down about my lack of art as of late, I decided to force myself to draw things I enjoy, things I hate, and things I literally can't. Everyday for the next 30 days, I will be posting a picture... Some pertaining to my life, others not so much. I'll let you decide. I am beyond grateful for the constant support everyone has given me. If you know me well enough, I tend to play myself down.

So, drawing #1: A self portrait

And, drawing #2: A picture of my favorite animal. Back story: I had nearly completed a version of this on my computer, and the art app I used crashed and burned my soul. I almost cried (mainly because I had a rough day, but this fucking sucked too). Anyways, I just decided to draw it on vellum paper with marker and scan it so, it could be worse, right?
Anyways, wish me luck... Most of these drawings will be at the quality of these, but I sure as hell can try.

What I have been missing...

Well ladies and gents, I have been in a major funk as of late. But here there has been one or two additions to the blog:

This drawing was done out of sheer boredom. I love circles, so I have the patience to make endless amounts.

I was super nostalgic when I did this. I thought about all those late, late evenings with my friends stumbling around trying to find some delicious, oily, pork coma-inducing ramen.

While this might not be the finished product, I kind of like leaving the figure black while there's so much other color going on. This is dedicated to all my Nihon no tomo. Peace.

Making Prints and T-shirts

Alright, so here is the deal. After seeing the amount of support from facebook (thank you everyone, it means the world to me), I am going to go see what it would take to make T-shirts and prints of my work... So people can purchase them! Based on how much this will all cost... It could potentially be pricey. HOWEVER, I will see if I can't lower the prices because everyone has been so supportive of my work. This is more of a hobby to me, so even if I don't quite break even I am content. After doing some research on digital printing, this seems to be the most price efficient way to get all the desired colors on a shirt as opposed to screen printing. This is fantastic, since it's far less time consuming and can handle larger quantities! Now, the major question not so much the process, but what design to make! I am going to make a few more potential prints, and then I was considering having a vote-off on facebook. I will probably end up making a Group to "like." Anyways, if you haven't already subscribed to my blog, please please do! I am so thrilled to see that people from all over the world have glanced at it, and multiple times for that matter! This helps me to see what's working and what needs to improve. This is all very new to me, so please be patient. One thing is for sure, the more my friends give me the support, the more motivated I am to get something going! Thanks again.

Maybe I could legitimately make a cool comic.
Well now... Artist block is back and in full force... Has something to do with a over 40 hr/week job and possible seasonal depression. So, instead of actually doing something that takes time, I am fooling around with different aspects of the drawing app I have. I am an idiot, and just discovered layers... and now I find out that these layers can move... I think this design would make for a pretty sweet T-shirt... but per usual I have yet to do my research as to where I can make some... or even how much it would cost :/
Also, if and when I can even get my scanner to work, I want to also put some more sketches on here. I am hoping to have some time this weekend to really just relax and figure it all out. In any case, I will only make T-shirts if I get enough interest, and since my friends are all pretty much broke, I understand why it would be an issue... One can dream however that I could make something of a living off my work...

Life happens, Which means it gets harder and harder to be inspired. So if my work seems repetitive, work with me. I just got a new pen tablet and I am extremely excited about it. Intuos 4... it's a huge and amazing investment. I can already tell a major difference in my precision. This came all from my head. I usually have to look at a few images to get going, but this was just a doodle that became more of a finished piece. I used the watercolor on the art program I have and well guess what... it is still extremely difficult to work with! However it is slightly more controllable (and there's digital erasing, thank God). This reminds me a lot of some of the female Japanese artists I have researched. Very colorful, but weirdly awkward/ provocative (cannot say the word "provocative" without thinking about Blades of Glory... thanks Kanye and Jay-Z). Alright. Time to Go.

I have been getting into a habit of posting my pictures but never really giving explanation or thoughts as to why I do what I do.
Since getting a job back in September, working over 40hrs a week makes it difficult to post frequently with quality work. However, I am determined to make more of an effort to get a electronic portfolio going.
If you could not already tell, I am very interested in the human figure, particularily faces. I also am into abstract designs... what this all means I am still trying to understand.
I am going to try to delve more into images that I am not familiar with aka animals, inanimate objects... more realistic images (since I definitely got the animation style down to a science... not to toot my own horn or anything). I am really greatful that my family and friends are so supportive of my work. I am getting money to invest in a new computer tablet, which I am very excited about... if anyone has suggestions or know people who have suggestions that would be extremely helpful (if people read this that is). That's it for now. Maybe I can finally get my scanner to work at home and scan some good ol', hand draw images on this blog. Peace.
